Hey there, fellow adventurers! As I sit here, sipping my hot coffee, and reminiscing about the many wild escapades I’ve been lucky enough to experience, I thought, why not share some of my most unforgettable paragliding experiences with you? So tighten your harnesses, and let’s take a flight around the globe.
Interlaken, Switzerland
Our first stop is Interlaken, Switzerland. Ah…the Alps! Interlaken is known to adventurers as the capital of Switzerland’s Bernese Oberland region, and it’s situated between two stunning alpine lakes.
There I was, my heart pounding in my chest, as our tiny plane climbed higher, throwing the majestic Alps into sharp relief. Fast forward a few minutes, and with a firm push, I was out in the open air, soaring like a bird. According to Paragliding Interlaken, a free fall from 800 meters above ground gives you breathtaking panoramic views of said lakes and a rush that’s similar to skydiving – except you’re actually flying!
Oludeniz, Turkey
Next, let’s glide over to the turquoise coasts of Oludeniz, Turkey. I still remember the excitement rushing through my veins as I prepared for my first ever beach paraglide.
As cited by Babadag Paragliding, descending from the height of 1960 meters, you get to take in the breathtaking scenery of the sandy beaches merging with the beautiful blue waters of the Aegean Sea. It felt like skydiving through a postcard!
Bir-Billing, India
Lastly, let’s swoop down to Bir-Billing in India. Known as the Paragliding Capital of India, it’s a lesser-known gem that blew my socks off!
As the Bir Billing Paragliding Association explains, at an elevation of 2400 meters, paragliders get to experience updrafts that keep them in the sky for longer durations. I clearly remember drifting over terraced fields and quaint villages, feeling the warm sun on my face. It was such a surreal experience.
